The Why, What, Where, When & How

 of Scientific Freethinkers

Almost 30% of Americans describe themselves as Religiously Unaffiliated or atheist or agnostic (https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2021/12/14/about-three-in-ten-u-s-adults-are-now-religiously-unaffiliated). Encompassing close to 100 million Americas, this group of people which is larger than any single religious denomination in America, lacks the sense of community, infrastructure, and political clout of organized religions, and is vilified by those on the right.

Religious groups are organized with coordinated social structures, large edifices, extraordinary political connections and vast accumulations of wealth. They have ingrained themselves into the political fabric of the nation with massive representation in both political parties.

Non-believers and religiously unaffiliated have none of this as they are not organized into a coherent and effective coalition. The Scientific Freethinkers is being formed to give a voice to this ignored and often maligned group of Americans.

From reproductive freedom to school curriculum, the religious beliefs of powerful religious denominations are being incorporated into the laws and regulations that govern the actions of every U.S. citizen. From their religious domination of the current U.S. Supreme Court to their successful takeover of the Republican Party, their goal is to turn the United States into a religious theocracy dominated and controlled by those promoting Christianity.

Although there are religious groups that are opposing their takeover of local, state and federal governments, they have not been successful in countering them.

Recognizing that there is an existential need to counter the influence and power of the religious groups injecting their values into government and the passage of laws that force their values on those who do not hold them, a concerned group of non-believers and religiously unaffiliated are forming a new organization, the Scientific Freethinkers.

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines freethinker as:

a person who thinks freely or independently: one who forms opinions on the basis of reason independently of authority especially one who rejects or is skeptical of religious dogma.

With the emphasis on “science” as the arbiter of truth, the Scientific Freethinkers is being formed to counter the influence of the religious denominations imposing their beliefs on all Americans.
